![]() ![]() so that kinda falls to this category as a broad application. even though it is not an anime i think that shinkenger vs power rangers samurai highlights this example of sub vs dub. shows here are obvious if they tie into history or deal with an aspect of Japanese society that does not translate well into the west. here we have historical pieces or ones that just make much more sense in japanese. The first is that it just fits better in Japanese. Of course i also apply similar criteria to subs, though admittingly it is much less stringent on those conditions. ones that fall into this are card-captors and digimon. they either make it too happy or to strange, it has gotten significantly better nowadays which is why this category has remained the smallest of the watch dubbed categories for me. ![]() The last category for English dubs is simple theme songs frankly i hate some of the Japanese theme songs because they don't actually fit what is going on with the series. This category is also the reason why I am PISSED THAT HEROMAN HAS NO ENGLISH DUB YET, because Heroman takes place in TEXAS and has Stan Lee as a character ![]() and finally shows that limit the number of actual Japanese people, such as black lagoon. shows that fall into this category are card game shows, shows that directly state that they are in a predominantly English speaking area such as Big O Baccano and Chrono crusade. in these cases it kind of does not matter to me but i prefer not having to read and be distracted by.lets call it silly translations. in fact they either take place in an English speaking country or can pass as an English speaking country, or have a predominant reason to have a large English speaking population. there are a few shows that clearly do not take place in Japan. The second category of English dub of three is location. The same idea can be applied to say AKB0048 yes it is a clear Japanese thing due to the idol group thing but to best sum it up, its American idol in space directed by Micheal Bay with the production team of a call of duty game helping to produce it, and that just screams English dub for me. but because of the art style in panty and stocking i switch to the dub, by comparison with high school of the dead why would I watch something so quintessentially Micheal Bay in Japanese. panty and stocking and high school of the dead, yes the sub is better acted and perhaps even better synced to the animation. for me its less about the overall quality of the acting but rather on what feels right. #Gungrave dub vs sub series#Dubs but if i need to get ahead in a series i will switch to subs. ![]()
